Smile-on has been involved in numerous e-learning projects for a variety of
clients with differing objectives and briefs. Below are some of our projects

Clinical Governance
This 1.5 hour e-learning course forms part of Smile-on’s clinical governance programme, which also consists of an introductory workbook, a website, and telephone support line. Additionally, a face-to-face seminar can be added to the programme. This product aims to help dental practices become compliant with the NHS clinical governance agenda and follows the seven domain structure as identified by the Healthcare Commission. Templates and resources are provided to help practices meet the 24 standards set out by the Healthcare Commission.

DNNET - NVQ in dental nursing
This innovative e-learning package provides dental nurses with the knowledge
to gain NVQ Level 3 in oral health care nursing or the National Certificate.
Audio, video and graphics have been combined in an imaginative way to
deliver this interactive training package on a series of CD-ROMs that reflect the NVQ
units. Self-testing activities are included. DNNET was built in
collaboration with the Eastman Dental Hospital and is provided with a copy
of the Faculty of General Dental Practitioner's Teamwork folder.

Practice Works - R4 Software Training
Practice Works approached Smile-on to develop an e-learning component for
its dental practice management system. This learning package provides basic
IT training and helps PracticeWork’s clients become familiar with their new
software package. Smile-on continues to update the package for PracticeWorks
as new versions of their R4 software is rolled out.

Eastman CPD - Radiography in Dental Practice
This comprehensive and essential Dental Radiography Update Course helps the
team meet the legal requirements for continuation training laid down in the
Ionising Radiation (Medical Exposure) Regulations 2000. This easily accessed
e-learning course has been developed with Eastman CPD and Colin Cook BDS MSc
DCR(R) FETC.

Minimising Intervention, Maximising Oral Health – Webcast
Over 50 dentists from the UK, America, Australia, Canada and South Africa
took part in the first-ever live webcast for the profession. Presented by
Professor Robin Seymour of the Newcastle Dental School and sponsored by an
educational grant from Listerine Antiseptic mouthwash, the innovative
lecture explored how dental professionals can improve oral health education
messages and patient compliance in practice, to increase business viability
within the new NHS dental contracts. The webcast was held in May, but is
shown here as a recording.
